Venetian Deep Stacks

The Venetian is running a series of poker tournaments now that they're calling deep stack events. Poker players like to have a lot of chips and slow blinds in tournaments so that they have a chance to get some playing time for their money. The pros lilke it because they feel it reduces the luck factor and gives them a chance to exert their skill superiority over the masses.

The Venetian's tournament structures are excellent for the relatively small buy-in amounts of the tournaments compared with WPT or WSOP events.

I played the HORSE tournament and placed 20th out of 204. Unfortunately, it only paid the top 18. Bummer. Big time. It's not too much fun to play for 12 hours and get nothing but I guess that's how it goes.

I was at a table with Kenna James and he said that he exclusively travels around and plays HORSE tournaments now. He feels, as do I, that there are a lot of players in the events that are very weak at some of the less common games like Razz and Stud. I saw some really bad play until we got down to about half the original number of players. At that point, it seemed that the people remaining had a clue for the most part.

If you want to play a good poker tournament, I highly recommend checking out the Venetian right now.
