Adopt a Rescue Pet Las Vegas

Back in October of last year we adopted Flocki from a group in Las Vegas called Adopt a Rescue Pet. They're a super organization that finds dogs that are on the kill list at the local shelters and adopts them before they can be euthanized. They then find foster homes or pay for a kennel to keep the dogs until they can find a permanent home for the pups.

Adopt a Rescue Pet lives solely on donations and volunteer workers. If you care to give a home to a dog or make a donation, I'm sure it would be appreciated.

Here's a couple pictures of Flocki:

Me and the Boy

Every Saturday and Sunday, the PetSmart store at Rainbow and Lake Mead allows the Adopt a Rescue Pet group to display the dogs outside for everyone to see.

If you find one you may be interested in, they'll take the dog out of the cage for you. I chose Flocki for a few reasons, but one was that he ran to the nearest bush to pee when he was let out so I figured he was house trained. We've had no problems with that at all.

We stopped by today to see how things were going and here's a few pics and a video from the day.

Skip's Gravatar Thanks for using your blog to post a message like this, and for rescuing a pet of your own. My wife and I rescued our current dog, and could never pay for one again, knowing that so many out there are in need of homes.

Cheers!

Judy Taylor's Gravatar Talk about timing! Your Rescue Pet Blog was just what I needed. I already have a new job in LV, but am looking for ways to make LV my home during the transition from work to retirement (at least a decade away). That means a house, local charities and ways that my Hubs and I can become a part of the area. I have been thinking about "rescuing" an older dog from a shelter. One with more needs for loving and cuddling than walking; or maybe, providing a foster home. The Adopt a Rescue Pet Organization sounds like a great resource for info on how to set up my household for both humans and animals; volunteer work; to give back some of what I've been given; and to introduce the idea to my Hubs.("Oooh, dear. Look at the dogs here at PetSmart!") He is a sucker for anything small and furry, but quick to say, "No." to something new. Hense my idea of adopting a short term pet that could use the same petting, hugging, grooming and social interaction that a more adoptable pet needs.
Now I know exactly where to go. Thanks!
By the way, your Flocki looks like a doll. Give him a nice ear scratch and a thump on the side for me, please.
