Election
It's official: Fred Thompson is out of the running for the GOP nomination. You could argue he was unofficially out of it ever since he polled somewhere behind Warren Harding in the New Hampshire primary. Though he could be quick with a quip, especially when needling thin-skinned Mitt Romney, Fred will surely be remembered for his uniquely drowsy campaign, always looking like he'd just been awakened from a nap. I guess "Grumpy Old Grandpa" wasn't the presidential persona voters were looking for this year.
At least we don't have to endure Fred's cornpone aphorisms (sample: "There's an education in the kick of a Missouri mule") on Law & Order anymore.
Caucus, shmawkus: We had our moment in the spotlight and blew it, royally, as the kvetching continues. In particular, the Culinary Union continues to reel from self-inflicted wounds. As Erin Neff implies "Democratic Party" is to "organization" as oil is to water.
In a Sun analysis of the Culinary's endorsement meltdown, several passing mentions are made of the contract stalemate (emphasis on "stale") at the Tropicana. So what is happening with that? Bueller ... Bueller ... .... Bueller?
