Not a casino, thankfully, but rather the senatorial aspirations of Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki (R), whose career may be toast. Second-term Congressman Dean Heller (R-NV) should get serious about moving up to the "senior circuit": Serendipitously, every obstacle in his path to Sen. Harry Reid's (D) seat -- save Reid himself -- has fallen or is falling to the wayside.
Adelson closes (political) shop. Reporter Molly Ball finds that Freedom's Watch, an Adelson-backed 527 will be "pretty much kaput" by year's end. Despite a plethora of ad campaigns, Freedom's Watch racked up an unimpressive score this election cycle. It put a particularly heavy push behind Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR), one of several Freedom's Watch candidates who bit the dust nonetheless. Now, with primary benefactor Adelson having to empty his wallet to keep the lights burning at Las Vegas Sands, it looks as though his political stalking horse is the latest casualty of the recession.
