Election
Even if he can't resist a little electoral fear-mongering toward the end (Yeah, like we're going to take our electoral marching orders from the Iraqi government), casino scion Sen. John Ensign finally wises up to what the White House won't say: That the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan is worse than that in Iraq. You might say we're paying the price now for now finishing the job in '01-'02, in Shrub's haste to get his war on with Saddam Hussein.
To his credit, Ensign also pours cold water on a deplorable Pentagon idea: Take troops that have finished their tour of duty in Iraq and rotate them ... to Afghanistan! With policies like that, they're going to have to start thinking about bringing back the draft.

Back home, the much-discussed "super delegates" (think Sen. Harry Reid in cape and tights; on second thought ... better not) may not be in Sen. Hillary Clinton's back pocket after all. This analysis lays out why they might be as Clinton-friendly as a crowd of Roman senators on the Ides of March.
