David Spade played Planet Hollywood last weekend and had this to say about Jay Sarno's pride and joy:

There was also a hilarious riff about the preposterous size and sprawl of MGM Grand, too long and detailed to even begin to summarize here. As for Spade's slams on Queen and the Willie Nelson & Friends tour, I thought I was going to asphyxiate.
Just next door to the Ex, at Luxor, the Significant Other and I checked out the Imax movies, trying to make a clean sweep of them before they're evicted (Boo! Hiss!) in favor of Bodies: The Exhibition, etc. While there, we strolled down to The Reading Room.
On the way, I noticed that four of the six southernmost storefronts in Mandalay Place (not counting The Reading Room and Starbucks) are vacant. So why is The Reading Room enjoying only a temporary reprieve? It doesn't looking like tenants are falling all over themselves to get into Manadalay Place, and besides, the bookstore is shoehorned into one of the smallest spaces there. Something about this just doesn't add up.
(The Reading Room has the best selection of books on architecture in Las Vegas. Most bookstores here aren't even cognizant of architects not named Frank Lloyd Wright -- and this in a city soon to play host to buildings designed by Frank Gehry and Cesar Pelli.)
