Harrah's,The Strip
That's what one reader says. If this experience is typical, the bean-counters at Apollo Management and TPG are hard at work, precisely in the way some feared -- and premium players aren't exempt. (Welcome to the wonderful world of highly leveraged private-equity buyouts.) A few elisions have been made to the letter, partly to protect the sender's identity:
We’ve been Diamond [level] since its inception, and I’ve never seen anything like it. We were in Vegas [earlier this month] and while we were there we went by the Diamond Room three our four times. (a) They have eliminated all premium alcohol; (b) the only food served the entire day is chips and dips and some tough frozen chicken legs; and (c) EVERY DAY THE FOOD WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE DAY BEFORE!! Harrah’s says they cut back because they had individuals who were abusing the room by staying there for hours at a time. While that may be true, you’re gonna punish all the rest of your best customers? Ha! This was strictly economics. True, Harrah’s is probably the only casino chain that offers this perk, but gimme a break. What they provide in the way of these rooms is nothing compared to what we spend at Harrah’s each year.
