I wouldn't know one car from another. Seriously. Not so Kirk Kerkorian who continues his courtship of Ford Motor Corp. A veteran Kerkorian-watcher writes me the following:
"I continue to be struck by the disparity in Mr. K's investment savvy. His bet on MGM remains a brilliant one, but he has this crazy soft spot for an industry everyone else believes is going (or has gone) into the toilet -- the U.S. auto makers. He's tried Chrysler and GM, now Ford--and as this story details, he's already underwater* in his initial 100 million share (gulp) purchase of Ford stock. What is he thinking?"
(*--underwater to the tune of -20%)
So what is Kerkorian thinking? Uhhhhh ... I got nothing. You?
