If anyone went looking for an item headlined "Running from Harrah's" and found nothing, it's because it contained -- and linked to -- some misleading data, which we found out just moments after the item went "live." Hence the sudden deployment of the vaudeville hook.
But the good news is, according to a recent Atlantic City visitor, Harrah's eponymous casino has become the new magnet for table game play along the Boardwalk. It seems those bright, young things from New York City are making a beeline for Harrah's when they have a gambling jones. Harrah's beating Borgata at its own (pardon the pun) game? Who saw that coming?
Erratum. Both JP Morgan and the local paper are working off some outdated information regarding the Wyandotte County, Kansas casino-bidding process. Olympia Gaming is no longer part of the "Legends Sun" project, having liquidated its position to Mohegan Sun late last month. This makes Mohegan Sun the 2/3 owner of the casino, should it come to fruition.
Red Rock > Palms. A Tinseltown source informs me that last weekend's gross for The Dark Knight at Red Rock Resort was $224,000 -- compared to $138,000 at the Brenden Palms cineplex. Allowing for possible disparities in number of seats, screens, etc., that's quite a testament to Red Rock's drawing power, considering that you have to drive halfway around the globe to get there (unless you live in Summerlin), compared to the centrally located Palms. In fact, I'm informed that RRR is consisently the top-performing cineplex in the Valley. My congratulations.
Harrah's isn't on the boardwalk, its on the marina district. However, kudos to them for making vast improvements to the property which make it a serious threat to Borgata's dominance.
