Cliché alert: Another crisis-in-Vegas story, using the done-to-death "perfect storm" lead. Business reporters need to start learning some new weather-derived metaphors. Oh, and for the umpteenth time, we're informed that, golly gee, Sin City "isn't recession proof [sic]" -- unless we're meant to infer that what's happening to Vegas isn't proof that there's a recession.

Bob Dietz's Gravatar I'm a great fan of your writing, but picking on a missed hyphen seems a bit much. Of course, now I've gotta go recheck my own writings for that particular hyphenation situation, so I do have a hidden agenda. By the way, while weather cliches may be overdone, I'm in agreement with the bottom line -- Las Vegas is heading into nasty uncharted territory. If you're going to criticize those who forecast doom, are you prepared to acknowledge that it is doom if things tank 18 months from now?

David McKee's Gravatar Oh absolutely, Bob. Usually I'm criticized for being too much of a Gloomy Gus. As for the missed-hyphen thing, that was a (failed?) attempt at humor, seeing how it changes the meaning of the sentence.
