MGM Mirage,Election
I can do my part in doing things like working really, really hard to get a new megaresort, a $9.2 billion project that's going to create a lot of jobs for people in Nevada, and we're going to have a lot of gambling flowing through here -- and pray about that also -- I think God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that megaresort built, so pray for that.
...
Sounds like I've gone completely off my rocker, huh? Well, just substitute "natural gas pipeline" for "megaresort," "$30 billion" for "$9.2 billion," "energy" for "gambling," and "Alaska" for "Nevada" and you have actual remarks delivered by Gov. Sarah Palin (or see them on video).
If MGM Mirage President Jim Murren made comments like that in a conference call, MGM's stock price would go crashing through the floor. But we seem inured to any old batshit-crazy thing coming out of any politician's mouth, even when it makes Rev. Tom Grey sound like Hugh Hefner.
While I think this election is Sen. John McCain's to lose, the casino industry's embrace of him makes less and less sense. Between his opposition to collegiate sports betting and Palin's abhorrence of gambling, period, the notion of "Gamblers for McCain" seems about as logical as "Jews for Buchanan" would have done eight years ago.
Can't you stop doing that or are you so totally
blinded by Obama's lack of experiance that you
just can't help yourself.
