Cool! He along with the esteemed Democrat Alan Grayson from the Sovereign State of Florida are both my heroes! They both cut to the chase and don't take no crap.
Franken may be right on the lack of medical bankruptcies, because those countries have universal health care, but the Lady is right that we have a better cure rate for major medical problems, because we do the research. Thank goodness we have such a good medical system in this country. Please don't destroy it trying to be like the Europeans.
The idea of a type of universal health care for all americans is a good idea, of course. The problem is that we are going about it wrong. There is so much fraud in the system, medicare, mediCal, and the other government run systems, that the costs are much higher than they should be. Also, a huge chunk of our health care costs are are for legal reasons. Tort reform is where this should start. Simultaniously go after those fraudulently abusing the system. Dont let this government run the system, as it cant run much of anything, republicans and democrats alike. If you have read the legislation, you will find so much of our privacy gets tossed out hte window, amoung other laws attached to this "piece". When you hear our representatives telling us that they will vote on it, either way, without reading it and understanding it in full, you know there is a problem in Washington.

the statistic is that no one in france, germany or switzerland has declared bankruptcy due to medical reasons...am i wrong to think that our economies are different? Does Mr. Franken discuss the percentages of bankruptcies in any of thsoe countries versus the United States? That is relevant I would think. I also think that if you look at the same cancer type survival rate in each county and ours is higher then that is something that should be considered. Mr. Franken is a fellow who likes to use statistics, then when they are used against his argument eschew their relevance. I for one do not know what is the right move, but I frankly don't care whether someone has to declare bankruptcy to get medical care. Bankruptcy versus health...hmmmm...i think I would choose being healthy.....That should not be an issue in the health care debate. Getting the best care available no matter who you are or where you are should be the issue.
