Starting tomorrow, I'll be spending a few days in the Land of Blagojevich, to see my Dad, attend a Lyric Opera of Chicago performance of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde and treat the Significant Other to a Valentine's Day dinner. Not in that order.
Which probably means little or no bloggorrhea until late Wednesday or early Thursday, after I dig out from under what will probably be a mountain of e-mails upon my return.
Ah, Wagner. Wasn't he old Adolph's favorite?
Do so enjoy your blogs. I have a penchant for American humour, with all the doom and gloom now pervading throughout the world, we badly need to "bring the humour back into our lives". Now that the greed factor has abated (did it ever die?), mebbe that will be possible. Do you remember the funny radio programmes?. Now all you get is bad news and repetition of the same. Macau is surviving. Humankind is remarkably resilient. The cranes are still, the buses aren't as full of filthy, nose-picking, spitting construction workers wondering when their next job will arrive, but it will as massive infrastructure is planned in the Pearl River Delta and elsewhere in China. Time to pause and reflect. Keep it rollin'.
You have a great blog, thanks for all the information. I live in Chicago and if you want to go to a great "dive" bar there is Rossi's which is close to downtown. The address is 412 N. State Street. The bartenders name is Kevin and he has not one but two ponytails. Kevin works Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights. The crowd is similar to Champagne's Cafe which is on Maryland Parkway near UNLV.

Thanks to everyone. Paul, sadly, I did not see your comment until it was too late to take advantage of your recommendation of Rossi's, but as we are fans of Champagne's, we're certain to check out Rossi's the next time we're in the Windy City -- which we hope will be soon.
