Fasolt is home! Last night, 48 hours after he disappeared, a received a call from a kind, elderly gentleman named Hal, who informed that my wayward Maine Coon cat had been lying up against his building all day ... just a few doors from my place. Hal had given him milk and some chicken. (Good call: Fasolt loves chicken.) I raced over, dragged Fasolt out from under a stairwell -- banging my noggin in the process -- and carried the big boy home. Hal was such a gentleman he wouldn't even hear of the reward I tried to offer him.
For all its debauched outward image (especially as played up by the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority and sidekick R&R Partners), Sin City cossets many a good-deed doing individual. So does the blogosphere. I remain very moved and grateful for all the comments and messages of support that Fasolt's disappearance elicited. I'm not very good at praying myself, but I'm sure the orisons of those readers who offered their prayers did the trick with the Man Upstairs. Thus my own guardian angel was restored to hearth and home, and the next time I'm dealing with his "inappropriate elimination," I'll remind myself how close I came to never seeing him again.
Thanks again to everyone who showed their support during a very difficult two days. Fasolt will be very flattered to know that there was a higher level of reader interest in his whereabouts than in the sacking of William Weidner. Which is only as it should be.
Glad Fasolt is safe. Keep up the great Stiff's Blog!!
You might want to redirect the offered reward to a charity like a local animal shelter, &/or a local people shelter "in the name of Hal".
Everybody wins.
I'm glad he's home safe and sound.
