On a personal note

My biggest, oldest, friendliest cat, Fasolt, went missing last night. The 17-year-old Maine Coon cat evidently slipped out a loose screen window when no one was looking. Several searches have proven fruitless. Since 1995, he's been my closest and most faithful friend, and he rode in the cabin with me on that fateful Jan. 7, 1999 flight that brought me to Las Vegas to begin a new chapter -- more like a book -- in my life. No stowing in the baggage hold for my best pal!

Anyway, if I seem MIA today or soon thereafter, now you know why.

Linda Pomeroy's Gravatar David, I hope you find your buddy... we used to have a Maine Coon cat when the kids were younger. He won grand champion at the 4H fair. Animals are important in our lives and we will say a little prayer for its safe return. Take care...

David McKee's Gravatar Thank you so much. Your kind thoughts are greatly appreciated.

mike_ch's Gravatar For me, this is familiar. I have a 16 year old girl who refuses to be content with the backyard and shows up out front too often (living in CA with my Mother.)

I hope your kitty simply needed to take a little walk after reading one too many of the RJ Editorial pages used to line his litterbox, and comes home soon.

Jeff Simpson's Gravatar I hope Fasolt returns quickly, David. My cat Bernadette died in 2007 after living 18 years and I still miss her.

Jason's Gravatar Best of luck on finding your most faithful friend.

ShortWoman's Gravatar Hope he turns up soon! I too know what it's like to have a missing cat.

Evoni's Gravatar Sorry to hear about Fasolt. Our oldest went missing for exactly 3 weeks. He returned a few days after we rescued 2 cats. Sometimes they get shut up in places so if you have any neighbors with garages that might be on vacation that's a possibility. Good luck!

Richard Abowitz's Gravatar I hope you find your cat. I am so sorry for the loss. Yrs., Richard

greg mccormick's Gravatar I enjoy your column immensely. I have two Maine Coon brothers laying here near me as I type this, and I couldn't imagine losing either of them.
We got them from a local rescue place a couple of years ago. It has always been my favorite breed. Sorry for your loss, but maybe it's better than what the alternative would have ultimately been. Anyway, please continue your excellent journalism work on this site. Greg
