As MGM Mirage winds the clock toward Aria's Dec. 16 debut, it's launched a Web site to showcase the resort's restaurants. The over-the-top verbiage was too much for one LVA staffer, who annotated it thusly:
AMERICAN FISH by Chef Michael Mina
Is that like "American Gangster"?? And how do you truly tell the nationality of a fish?
SIRIO RISTORANTE by Restaurant Legend Sirio Maccioni
Oh, so no longer do we have "celebrity chefs"; now we have "restaurant legends"???
AND;
"Ingredients from the earth, sea and air …"
As opposed to??
JEAN GEORGES STEAKHOUSE by Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten
"The expected becomes unexpected"
Haha!! So when you order a steak, we bring you a cauliflower!!!!
OH!OH!OH!, and this one's my favorite:
"Green pastures, cows and the theory of human vanity"
This is a description of the decor?? HAHA!!!

Inside the wizard's lair: If they sold tours of Steve Wynn's office, it'd be the hottest attraction on the Strip. Steve Friess got the next best thing -- a peek behind the curtain of Wynn's design nerve center. More accurately, he was able to tour the office of Roger Thomas, the aesthetic guru of Encore (above) and many another Wynn property, and take copious photographs. Love or hate Thomas' work, it's set the trends that the rest of the Strip follows.
