Just when you thought we'd heard the last of ultra-vile "Slick Rick" Santorum, the troglodytic former Pennsylvania senator turns up as the leading suspect in the "Who tipped off John Ensign?" scandalette. Most GOP senators are admirable men and women doing what they think is right (pun unintended) for the country, but the terminally self-righteous Santorum raised being a dickhead to the level of an art form.
Anyway, the good news for conservatives in all of this is it appears to take Fox News at least partly (but not wholly) off the hook for seemingly being asleep at the switch. Closer to home, CityLife is hot on the trail of a previous "Johnny Casino" imbroglio that, if it can be corroborated, would make the Ensign/Hampton ménage look like a church picnic.
"Santorum, who served in the Senate from 1995 to 2007, was unavailable for comment Tuesday. He is now a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, a conservative Washington think tank.
Like Ensign, Santorum is a conservative Republican with strong religious ties. The two men are said to be close."
- Great ETHICS job for the ex-Senator... who lived in a house with his wife & kids in Virginia... and collected regular cash payments from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, designed to help residents educate their children... while he was home-schooling the kids two states away from where they supposedly lived.
Oh yeah - so they could protect their children from the pernicious influence of a Godless public school education.
