Station Mailers

Brad and I don’t play at any Station casinos at the present time, but I have been listening to the buzz about them among my friends and on the Internet forums. Many skilled players (including Bob Dancer) who had been playing there regularly are no longer receiving monthly mailers. This is especially true for those who play only the games with the highest EVs and/or for those who put in long hours pounding the best machines, particularly during promotions.

And a recent surprising development is that most (all?) players who have been cut off from the monthly mailers have also been cut off from participating in the Wednesday Senior Day events, including 5x points. This is a particularly disturbing development – and some think unethical if not actually violating the Gaming Commission regulations about promotions – since there is no mention of this exclusion in the rules.

Casinos have all sorts of “rights” – and I know times are hard for them – but I am wondering if they are considering the public reaction to many of their aggressive moves.

EDC's Gravatar Even in hard times, it seems kinda chicken of them to bite the hand that feeds them Jean.

Gamb00ler's Gravatar The hand they are biting is not one of those that is feeding them. It is a hand that is snagtching food off their plate.

Geri J.'s Gravatar My husband and I haven't played at Stations for over a year -- ever since they outsourced their reservations department and laid off local employees. Everything seemed to have tightened up there anyway, so it was no big loss.

Mirabella's Gravatar I don't know if it's because I'm an out-of-towner, but lately I've been receiving more Station mailers than my play would merit. Not only have I been getting free room and food offers, but also free play and multiple-point offers, neither of which I'd ever gotten in the mail before. Not complaining, though! =]

Joe H's Gravatar It's really a variation of the direction Harrah's has chosen. Harrah's welcomes players with poor gaming, and Stations welcome players with poor judgment.

Give away a room and there are plenty of rubes ready to pay for it by playing poor promotions and games.

And thanks for sending that email which said no changes now that we enter bankruptcy.

Tom Gabrielli's Gravatar I had been frequenting Stations' Red Rock most of last year. Then, about 4-5 months ago, I noticed that they had tightened up their machines considerably, so I switched to Boyd's Suncoast. Glad I did. Boyd's Players' Club is much better and the atmosphere is friendly. And so are their machines! A week doesn't go by that I don't hear a comment from someone saying at Suncoast that they'll never go back to Red Rock. My sentiments exactly. Stations is loosing their customer base in droves, and I don't think this is a temporary situation. Bad ganme plan on Sations part!

mike's Gravatar We need to face the fact that VP will be getting "worser and worser". 95% of people will play 7-5 or even 6-5 if better games are removed. Just so long as they get a "free" room and a buffet comp.

ProgressiveGambler2's Gravatar Apparently when you disagree with the blogger here you are blocked from leaving comments - i just posted comments under my id "ProgressiveGambler" and they did not appear. No wonder the comments in this blog overwhelmingly agree with "Jean Scott" - if that is even her real name.

EDC's Gravatar Getting the most bang for your buck is why Jean does this blog. What exactly is your definiton of "frugal?" BTW, take away the tourists and the only hand feeding you is the skilled players.
