Border Grill serves only sustainable seafood, as part of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch Program. The restaurant also does not serve tuna or swordfish, on account of high mercury levels. After joining the Humane Society’s "Protect Seals" campaign, Border Grill took a pledge to boycott Canadian seafood products until Canada ends its commercial seal hunting.
The black beans served are organic and the chicken, beef, and uncured pork served is from animals raised without hormones and antibiotics. No products containing artificial trans fat are served and neither is plastic-bottled water (the Natura water purification system is used and water's served in reusable glass bottles).
