This restaurant was reviewed in the March 2006 LVA when it was the Europa House European & Russian Restaurant; some of the information contained in this review may no longer be accurate. This long-operating Russian/Eastern European restaurant at W. Flamingo and Decatur was formerly called Eliseevsky. We weren’t crazy about the entire Europa House experience, but we can make a specific recommendation for this place. A few dishes, predominantly appetizers, aren’t found in many other restaurants. The red caviar is an example. It’s lower-grade, but unless you’re a caviar connoisseur, you won’t know the difference once you apply the fixin’s, and it’s just $10. Other good appetizers are the smoked salmon ($10) and vareniki ($8); vareniki are the potato dumplings better known as pierogi. The restaurant doesn’t have a liquor license, which is a drawback with this food, but there’s a convenience store next door and you might be able to negotiate bringing in your own.
