We loved the GG! Try room 404 .. I called it the Penthouse..top floor with windows facing Fremont and the Plaza..big room and newly redecorated! ..room was easy to find.. not like others on the 2nd floor....lol.. had my biggest hits on the fish games ..over $300 in about 1/2 hour of playing... love the shrimp and the price..room was $19.06... would stay again..
Just be Aware... - jimorl57 (03/26/2009) - 1 out of 5 stars
There will always be die hard fans of the Golden Gate. Before you stay however, please be aware of the MAJOR pitfalls of the place.
We stayed in March for 7 days. The noise from Freemont Street is so loud, so much of the time that you should be prepared. Do not plan on sleeping from 7am, (when the cleaning crews start on Freemont, and the music from the loudspeakers begin), until about 3 or 4am when the crowds of howlers finally die down. You just can't get away from it.
If you have a car, you must use the "valet" in the rear of the building. There is a self park lot, but it is another block away and unsecured, in a very seedy area of downtown. In short, Golden Gate is a nice place to visit, just don't stay there.

We played for several hours here this fall and enjoyed the low table limits and people watching. Nice little place to hang out and have a good time.
99 Cent Shrimp Cocktail - jakecattx (12/06/2008) - 5 out of 5 stars
No trip to downtown Vegas is complete for me without stopping by Golden Gate and buying 2 or 3 of the 99 cent shrimp cocktails. The last time l was there however I was disappointed when I was served the shrimp cocktail in a small styrofoam cup instead of the large sundae plastic glass. I showed my son how to shoot craps at the low limit table here.
I love the place; please don't mess with it! - ronush (06/21/2008) - 4 out of 5 stars
My favorite casino, bar none. Friendly dealers and bartenders, low limits, cheap eats, old Vegas charm, great location on Fremont, small but decent rooms. You could spend thousands on the Strip, but why? Note to the new partners; please don't mess it up!...R.
