Just played the HR for the first time. It's a long haul from the Strip. The casino was OK. Joined the Rockstars players club. Slots were decent. Table games offered more excitement. Earned a $50 voucher for 100 pts pretty quickly with little cash in. Good for dinner at AGO's which was nice and enjoyable but wouldn't pay full boat there without the voucher. Don't really see the attraction here but didn't have a bad experience. $7 cab ride from the Strip was worth it. Would probably go again. Don't know if I'd stay here though. Too isolated.

current reviews - rockin (01/14/2009) - 4 out of 5 stars
I hate to start by deriding someone else's review, but I have to do it. Howdydude's review based on a single visit 3 YEARS AGO is no longer relevant. I thought part of the reason for the new rating and comment system was to get rid of old, out of date posts. On to the new: The Hard Rock is definitely geared towards a younger crowd. That shouldn't surprise anyone. It is designed for people with money who want to have fun and don't know or care about the advanced mathematics side of gaming odds. I can't recall ever having an issue with cocktail service on the gaming floor. On the few occasions where I wanted a fresh drink and the cocktail server wasn't near, the pit boss would call one over for me. The Center Bar is one of my favorite places. The service that I have experienced there has been good even on very busy nights. It helps to tip well (15% or more, not just $1 per drink or round as some people have suggested ...) and not make the drink orders too complicated. The rooms are nicely decorated with a modern/urban feel. I have only had rooms with a mountain view [no pool view for me :-( ] The toiletries are nice and I even liked the conditioner enough to buy some to take home with me. I have not played in the new poker room, yet, but it looks very nice. I will make a point of adding my comments about it after my next visit in March.

Wear Black on Friday Nights. Make sure you stake claim to some bar space at the Circle Bar as it gets crowded early.

Best Room Ever...Worst Player's Club Ever - Howdydude (09/29/2008) - 2 out of 5 stars
We stayed at the Hard Rock one night three years ago when the place was apparently empty and they were offering rooms for $79 a night. At check-in we tried the $20 trick and got upgraded to a suite facing the Pool. Very nice desk staff. The room was really amazing -- huge suite with a sitting room and a bar and it was all very swanky and fun. Then we started to gamble and it was all downhill from there. Had to go to the Player's Club booth to use some coupons and we were treated horribly rude by the person working there (I'm in my late 30's, but that is very old by Hard Rock standards, and the younger and cuter you are, the better the service appears to be.) We then started to play the machines...The VP was awful and we weren't winning a thing. In about three hours of play, we were able to get a waitress to get us drinks once. Eventually we gave up and decided to try it again in the morning and see if it got any better. Started off the morning with a visit to Player's Club and, amazingly, the service was even worse the following day. We stood there being ignored for several minutes while the two people in the booth were apparently busy doing something so important that customer service was put on hold (we didn't get a 'we'll be with you in a minute' or a smile or anything.) Eventually the guy looked up and gave some nonverbal clue that we should now speak and we started to ask about this coupon we had. He was unwilling to deal with it and told us we had to speak to the Supervisor. After some time it became apparent that the woman sitting next to him, who also hadn't helped us, was the Super that we were waiting for. She eventually helped us and was perhaps the most rude of the three employees we dealt with there. But, she knew what to do and got the coupon taken care of and sent us off without a 'thank you' or 'sorry about the hassle' or anything. Needless to say, we were done with the Hard Rock, but we decided to have breakfast before leaving. We were so shocked by the horrible treatment at the Player's Club that we were talking about it when our waitress arrived. She overheard part of our conversation and jumped in to ask us if we were talking about the Slot Club employees. We confirmed that we were and she started in on a rant about how everyone who visits complains about how horrible they are. This made us feel slightly better. After breakfast we stopped in the gift shop and overheard someone telling the gift shop employee about the horrible service at the Slot Club and we chimed in that we had the same experience and the woman working in the gift shop then described one of the employees who was so awful and said that she hears horrible things about him all of the time. So, the end of this long story is that we have never gone back. We even left comment cards, but no one contacted us to apologize or to say that they appreciated the feedback. Amazing rooms, but not worth the awful gambling and horrible slot club staff. I think their target audience is the drunk 20-something crowd and we don't fit that demographic. They aren't interested in our business and so we have been happy to take it elsewhere.
