Stayed here for a night on October 4th. Pluses were the pool, buffet, water pressure and check-in. Minuses were the bed and noise from the elevators. Make sure to get a room a bit further down the hall. The rooms themselves were surprisingly cozier than expected. Note: the suites are in the center of the floors next to the elevators with the standard rooms on the hallways.
Just got home - rudie9999 (07/24/2009) - 2.5 out of 5 stars
Stayed here for 3 nights last week. Casino floor needs and upgrade and some newer slot machines. The deluxe room was OK, very small bathroom. The food court was a plus and the pool area was awesome. If not for the last 2 items I would have rated it lower.
Tired hotel - Frequent_vegas_traveler (06/12/2009) - 2.5 out of 5 stars
I just got back from staying four nights at MC. The location and food court was great but the room and the entire hotel in general looked tired and old. The walls are paper thin and I heard EVERYTHING that was happening in the room next to mine and the room across from me. I was facing the construction and they started at 7am every day. It didnt bother me since I'm an early bird anyway.
it seemed tired - TECramer (06/01/2009) - 3 out of 5 stars
I stayed at Monte Carlo several times in 2000 and 2001 and really enjoyed it. I was there a few weeks ago, needed an extra night comped somewhere and got an offer. Can't say it has changed much since the last time I stayed. Everything seemed pretty tired. I had a City Center view, while not the Monte Carlo's fault that their owner is building that monstrosity next door, which was very distracting.

We have been going to Las Vegas since 1981, stayed at the Monte Carlo for the first time April 27th to April 30th.........OUTSTANDING, personable staff and dealers through out. Would have given it a top rating except for Andre's which is way over rated. Looking forward to our next visit there!
Monte Carlo - mistrhia (12/01/2008) - 4 out of 5 stars
Stayed here January 2008. Standard Room was clean, but faced construction site. Not a big deal since no one sits in the room looking out window anyway! Heard no construction noise at all through stay. Buffet was decent, had good selection and was being frequently refreshed. Casino was fairly quiet, which is a nice relief as you head back to the room after the hustle and bustle of a night out on the strip. Front desk staff were pleasant but understaffed.

Stayed November 2008. Had a suite for 3 nights comped. Suite was very roomy and comfortable. Easy access to and from elevators, but quiet - no noise coming from people walking by to get to their rooms. Brand Steakhouse was excellent for food, ok for service. Found that the staff seemed to concentrate more on larger parties (bigger tips?) rather than tables of two, so had excessive waits for refills on drinks, etc. Food was first class however, and portions very big. Diablos restaurant was poor quality. Staff were indifferent, frat boy atmosphere, food mediocre at best. Service was beyond slow - almost walked out after waiting 20 minutes for our first drink in a less than half full restaurant mid afternoon. Chips and salsa showed up after 40 mins. Meals took over an hour and arrived lukewarm. Server didn't bother to reappear to check on us, just passed by and dropped bill on table about 20 minutes after serving food. Very disappointing - won't try this one again. Casino was busier than previous visit, but still quieter than most on strip. Again, a pleasant relief from the noise and flash elsewhere. Front desk still needs more staff.
Great if the price is right (it was). - slotramp (10/02/2008) - 3.5 out of 5 stars
I booked this thru priceline.com for $50.00 per night and it was a terrific deal. I found out about the construction next to the hotel for City Center so I called ahead and requested a quiet room near the elevator. I got one on the third floor facing the Strip and the noise was minimal. I brought earplugs just in case. The room was a decent size, clean and everything worked. The bathroom was a decent size. The only problem was they were short of hand towels and initially I was only given 1 small bar of soap for the sink. The front desk sent someone from housekeeping with a bagful of extra towels, washcloths and toiletries.
The casino is very large but like the other main Strip casinos are not making winning an option. Like most of the large hotels, the trek from the hotel lobby to the Strip is very long but that helped walk off those buffet meals. If you can snag a room at a bargain rate you will get your money's worth and then some.
Great hotel - BklynChick (08/29/2008)
This was my second stay at Monte Carlo. Really love this place - it has everything you want from a hotel without being too big. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was excellent, recommend eating there over the Cafe (even if you have a "light" breakfast it will likely cost less in the buffet). Food court is very nice with good selections. And the pool! We spent many enjoyable hours here. Main pool, wave pool and lazy river were all great. Water was refreshingly cool even in 100+ degree heat. Pool bar made a mean Pina Colada (ask for whipped cream). Only negatives: casino could stand to be a bit bigger, and the construction at City Center, while not noisy, took the atmosphere down a notch. Still, good bang for the buck here.
