Plaza not too hot - Flatulence Dude (08/06/2009) - 1.5 out of 5 stars
Had an interesting day stay at the Plaza. I wouldn't stay there again. Hotel in very poor maintenance. First, A/C didn't work at all well. TV picture horrible. Toilet hardly flushed, had to take back off tank sometimes to flush a #2. Called front desk, Maintenance dept. came up said.... " We're working on it ". Never was fixed, best part was I learned a new brush off line. Housekeeping didn't change towels for 2 days, had to complain about that, finally changed sweaty pillowcases after a week. I saved the best for last. First morning, no hot water. Called desk, was told to let it run to get hot. It took a minimum of 15 minutes, sometimes as much as 25 to get hot. I know this sounds unbelievable, and if I read a review like this, I would think the author was crazy. Check it out for yourself, but set your alarm 30 minutes early to get hot water. Good parts were a good casino, McDonald's in lobby (24 hr)...subway, pizza etc. Good location near Fremont St., but be careful by the Bus Station next door. ( lots of strange characters there. )
Must be a magnet... - VegasOutsider (04/06/2009) - 3.5 out of 5 stars
because something kept drawing me back. Didn't stay here but joined the players club and kept showing up here each evening. Only played slots here but won more often than not. Atmosphere was good, waitresses friendly and efficient, good comped drinks, casino was roomy, good comps for not a whole lot of play. Next trip downtown I'll try the rooms. Worth a visit.

We have been staying at the Plaza for about 30 years. I booked 4 rooms for 7 days for family, deluxe king so we would have refrig's. The check in was about an hour, 3 rooms on one floor and one on another. Booked in July for Feb 2009. Rooms themselves OK but no Frig's had to call and have some sent up, took 4 days for the last one, 3 of the rooms were not cleaned at least once. Door keys went bad on 3 of the rooms several times, blaimed on us. the people who were in the rooms used their cred cards to check in but my card for some reason was the only one one the rooms...Sister in law had an e-mail with the price for her room, taken at checkin but at checkout they refused to use that price and ended up putting her room on my card. Had to contact the hotel management when we got home and got it all taken care of. It was a pain!!!!!
fine no frills - Carrie B (03/03/2009) - 3 out of 5 stars
I have stayed at the Plaza numerous times and I find to be a constitantly good place to stay on a budget. The rooms are basic and staff are proficient. You get what you are paying for. One plus is that most rooms have very large windows, depending on you view there can be nice views. Last year I got the unexpected awsome spectacle of a desert thunderstorm (lightening). I was in a high floor and I turned off all my lights and was able to enjoy an awe insipiring lightening show. Please note: I live in Kansas and lightening is very routine here, so this shows how impressed I was.

I think the Plaza is an aquired taste. You get what you pay for. When I read about leaky faucets and AC that does not work I too have had these problems. One call to the desk and a maintence man comes to the room and fixes the problems. I just wish everyone would call and then I would not have to LOL. The maid service is efficient and fast as any hotel. If you go in with high expections you will be disappointed. Go in with an open mind and will to call the front desk you will get what you paid for.
Rooms & Gambling - kloerwald (12/06/2008) - 4 out of 5 stars
Gambling was very affordable and the slots were loose, we had a great time. The valet was always quick and right there when we needed them. The room was OK...nothing special,if they would upgrade their mattress it would really be a great deal...however, for the price you really get your money's worth. We had a nice view out the window of the hotel room and being right on Fremont Street you cannot beat. Downtown is where all the deals are.
Very Disappointed - nevsho (11/14/2008) - 1.5 out of 5 stars
Went to Vegas Oct 30-Nov 2. Reserved and paid for 2 rooms with king size beds. When we got there and checked in, we were given 2 rooms with worn out queen beds. The airconditioning in either room didn't blow air, the lavatory hot water pipes would make awful noise when turned on, areas where pictures were removed from the wall were not repaired, elavators were needing updated badly, one elavator up to the south tower wasn't smooth at all; we avoided that one (!), and the furniture in sitting area next to the check in desk was showing well worn areas. The one place that was really nice was the public restroom just down from the front desk sitting area. Now that was pretty. We won't be staying at this hotel again. Sorry. :(
Room - Rubberman1966 (10/06/2008) - 3 out of 5 stars
We were in from Winnipeg, Manitoba and stayed at the Plaza for 9 days. Although the faucet in the tub never stopped leaking and the water temperature was terrible, the room was good. A/C was nice and cold and housekeeping was very good. We did most of our gambling at the Vegas Club and we received comps for three extra nights at the Plaza, bringing our stay to 12 days. Lombardi's is a decent restaurant. Subway and that pizza joint should be opened later, c'mon we're in Vegas, people eat at all kinds of crazy hours.
All the baggage guys, the front desk (except for one snooty clerk) and housekeepers were very friendly and helpful.
Elevators in the north tower were crummy. Of the six elevators, only three worked at any one time during our entire stay.
Overall, I would still stay there again. Downtown is way better than the strip.
For free it was almost Okay - full_monte_carlo (06/05/2008) - 3 out of 5 stars
This is my husbands favorite place to stay and they usually offer us rooms for free, unfortunately he is not the one doing this rating. We stayed on the 8th floor in a room with two queen beds. The bedding (mattress and box springs) was new and I had NO experience with bugs of any form. The carpet was old and very worn. My main complaints with the room was the plumbing. The shower had low water pressure (not uncommon for Las Vegas) with varing degrees of hot, hotter and hottest water I have ever experienced in any hotel in any city I have ever stayed. There also was a problem with the drain because the water was slow to empty, by the time I finished my shower I had water in the tub above my ankles, needless to say I only showered in this tub. The toilet required extra water to complete the flush. Honestly you would have to fill the ice bucket from the sink and when flushing the commode add the water from the bucket to the toilet. There was only one lamp of the three in our room that worked, likely if I would have complained about this it would have been fixed, the only time we are in the room in Vegas is to shower and sleep and for that not alot of lights are needed. AC worked wonderfully and The Plaza in my opinion is actually improving slowly. The restrooms on the ground floor are reopened, registration is back on the first floor, more waitresses ,99% Video Poker at various pay levels including quarters and they are running afternoon and evening shows again. They have a lounge band that plays most of the evening which I enjoy hearing the music while playing the games.
