I'm sorry guys, but I was NOT impressed with the Trop one bit. I found the mirrors on the cieling to be tacky as hell (like someone in the hotel had a cousin in the mirror business and decided to give them a major hook-up). The casino overall looked trashy and clustered, the staff did not look happy to be there. Out of all the South Strip locales, this one is, in my opinion, the worst.
Generous comps - aphorism153 (07/06/2009) - 5 out of 5 stars
January 2009 I stayed one night in Island Tower. My gf and I LOVED the mirrors on the ceiling. We're both 29 year-old hipsters; campy is good. Signed up for player's club. After a few hours of slots and craps I was comp'd two tickets to Folies Begeres - a fantastic show. I'm very sad to hear I saw one of the last performances.
March 2009 I was invited to stay for one night for free in the Paradise Tower. Enormous room. Comp'd two free magic show tickets. My gf is fond of animal rights and walked out. We didn't like to watch abused animals perform for us. They should cancel that junk.
July 2009 I was invited to stay two nights free and got free entry to a slots tourny. $139 value + rooms. Wow. Great property.
Next time in LV we plan to "graduate" to a posher joint. Hopefully the comps will be just as generous, but doubtful. Any resort that doesn't have performance animals will win our business.
Very Pleasant - JArbyH (03/05/2009) - 4.5 out of 5 stars
I spent 5 enjoyable nights in the Garden Tower, which has a great rooms and view. The Craps table compted me for an Island Buffet, which I was pleased with the food and the seating lay out. The indoor 24 hour jacuzzi and pool was great too. The cleaning staff took extra care to make me comfortable. I look forward to staying there again, it is a great value.

I meant to say I was pleased with the Island Tower (not the garden tower) in the last post. The Trop is a great location. By far the best rates you will get for the Trop will come in their email promo. I paid 25 bucks a night. They closed the poker room, but no great loss.

Rooms suck. Casino sucks. Place is old and just plain dirty. Waaaaay overpriced! Food selection and quality is poor. Most of the staff sucks. Check out the sports book...you'll laugh your ass off!
If it wasn't for the Follies and Magic show there would be no reason to go there. And of course they are getting rid of those...go figure. But other than that.....??? Hell...they've demolished places 10X better than this !!
