Run for the exit - richardwilliams (01/14/2009) - 1 out of 5 stars
Run for the exit.........that's what you'll be wanting to do!!!! I've been to Vegas 10 times and I've seen 30+ shows of all types. This is the worst show I've ever seen! We saw a preview show back in October, so mercifully we had a discount. I wouldn't want to see this mess for FREE!!!! The show was ALL about Criss, with a touch of CDS. Criss hogged the mic, talked endlessly to the audience, and even accepted gifts from audience members. Was this a fan club meeting or a Vegas show??? We were trapped in the middle of a huge section, so we couldn't leave during the show. We had to stay to the bitter end, then couldn't leave because of all of the folks trying to collect their cameras (which had been taken from them as they entered). Undoubtly this was the very loudest show I've ever attended. I could have used ear plugs and still been overwhelmed by the sound. Summary: no magic, very little CDS, all Criss, deafenly loud! Please do not go! Let's send a message to the folks in charge: we will not tolerate this kind of junk!!! Is there a star rating lower than zero?

Criss is a great magician. He made me disappear from the audience in less than 30 minutes. The show either needs to be about magic, or about Cirque du Soleil. Can't be both and make it work.

Un-Believeable - NTGuru (12/08/2008) - 1 out of 5 stars
Just saw the show, if you can call it that. It was a mess, they even stopped theshow at one time and you could hear Chris backstage barking orders to others. Do NOT waste your money on this show. We have 3 others to see this week, Carrot Top, Bill Engval and Jay Leno. i know we will not be dissapointed. Believe is an absolute waste of money.

I had it right! I AM NOT ALONE! - xlr8tor (12/05/2008) - 1 out of 5 stars
I was quoted on the paper as being the first person to walk out of Believe. It left me thinking that I would be the only one to do so on such a lousy show, but I guess I am not alone! From the minute that the lights went out and Angel came on stage and started talking I had a feeling the show wouldn't be any good. He had the stage presence of a rock. He was an uncomfortable looking at our disgust and boredom and we were looking at him. Total waste of time and money. Skip this show!!!

Just say NO! - downtownsteve (11/16/2008) - 1 out of 5 stars
At least the stuff that come out of my anus can be turned into fertilizer which can then grow beautiful things. This show is pre fertilizer poo. I love Mindfreak, I have loved every Cirque production I have ever seen. Believe blows chunks. This show makes your $100+ dollars disappear while you walk out of the theater feeling like your wallet has been raped. See Jeff Mc Bride, see Penn and Teller, see Lance Burton, see Mac King, skip Believe at all costs....even for free, just skip it. Angel and Cirque should be absolutely ashamed for taking peoples money for this tripe. It's legalized stealing. Junk, tripe, drivel, magical sewer. I would rather eat my own vomet, rather than pay over 100 bucks to see this show again. Total rip off!!!

Chris Angel Believe - Steve Sly (11/08/2008) - 2 out of 5 stars
We were in Vegas in October and saw a preview of Chris Angel’s collaboration with Cirque Du Soleil called “Believe”. I am not sure what exactly Angel or Cirque were thinking here, but this show just does not work very well on several levels. I enjoy Angel’s Mindfreak program, but some of the stunts that come off so spectacular on TV don’t come off nearly as well on stage. The illusions in “Believe” are all things we have seen before. Chris levitates high in the air, but is obviously being held up by wires. He walks down a backdrop curtain from the top of the stage, which is kind of cool, but then you can see two stagehands come up and unhook the wires from his back which takes a lot away from the stunt. Chris gets sawed in half by a huge circular blade (with plenty of blood) which is another stunt everyone has seen before and knows how is done. He builds a monster out of parts laying on the stage which comes to life on its own, doing battle with Chris and crew. This is another oldie that I remember seeing Alice Cooper do on stage years ago. Another old Alice Cooper move was using a projection on a screen at the back of the stage and walking in and out of it, which Chris also does as a part of “Believe”. The one illusion that I thought did work was a performance Houdini’s classic straight jacket escape while suspended over the audience. Chris was suspended literally right over my head. This is another classic old school escape artist trick, but he did manage to pull it off quite well. Along with the rather tired illusions there was a feeble storyline involving Chris getting electrocuted during an illusion near the beginning of the show. There are also lots of dance / comedy Cirque numbers that appeared to be quite a bit below the troupe’s usual standards. Angel even “sings” the theme song from Mindfreak late in the show trying to spark some energy from the rather sedate crowd, and it just comes across as awkward. The show is quite schizophrenic in nature and can’t seem to decide if it wants to be a rock concert, magic act, or Broadway spectacular. In the end it does not really succeed as any of these. Part of the reason Angel’s Mind freak show has been so successful is that he is able to come up with unique illusions and stunts that are like no one else is doing in the genre. Unfortunately “Believe” contains very little of this. If you have ever seen one of Alice Cooper’s big production concerts you have seen just about everything you see here, only done better. Angel has a lot of bugs to work out of this one if it is going to have any kind of successful run.

Believe (NOT)!!! - LindaPgh (11/06/2008) - 1 out of 5 stars
There were 5 of us that saw this show in September and we are all big Chiss Angel fans. We absolutely hated the show. We were expecting to see the illusions that Criss is know for and we saw very little of that. If we could have walked out and got a full refund we would have. You have to go thru metal detecters just to get in the show. I felt like I was back at airport security. The clowns at the beginning of the show were weird and the whole mix of a Cirque show with they type of illusions Criss usually does just does not work. I thought at times it was a bit sinister and I would never that a child to the show.Don't waste your money!!!!!

How can Cirque even put their name on such a worthless show? I have seen every show they have put on in Vegas and this one is so bad i feel like i was robbed. They should do the Cirque name a favor and abandon ship now before they ruin their reputation. The 4 clowns pre show were very good. I cannot name one good thing about the rest of the show. I wrote to Cirque and this was their reply: Thank you for you interest in Cirque du Soleil Matthew. We appreciate all comments and feedback and are forwarding them to the creative team. As with all of our Cirque du Soleil shows, CRISS ANGEL Believe is evolving into its own element. It is a process that Cirque du Soleil is working diligently on. My apologies if offense was taken. OFFENSIVE there is the word I was looking for. Save your cash you will thank me later.

A "1" is generous - crossroads (10/28/2008) - 1 out of 5 stars
I have been a Criss Angel fan and I have seen and enjoyed every Cirgue production in LV, save one. The Believe illusions were amateurish and unimaginative, including Criss being "sawed" in half. Ever seen that before ? Also, I had not seen that many strings (wires) on a stage since the last time I went to the philharmonic. The Cirque side of the show had none of the artistry, creativity, nor originality found in other Cirque Du Soleil productions. As I left the theater I knew how the people feel that send the African general's widow the $ 100.00 and their bank account numbers thinking they are going to share in the 100 million dollars. I share Criss' and Cirques' embarrassment for having bought a ticket.

Believe or Disbelieve - sloppymess (10/06/2008) - 1 out of 5 stars
I saw the show on Sept 29th and was not sure what I watched and couldn't believe that Cirque and Criss Angel were apart of it. The Cirque was not up to the same standard as other such as "O". There was no WOW factor or happy to see a performer accomplished a death defying act. It was more dancing out of sync and really hard to follow the story/theme. If I wanted to see dancing could stayed home for America's Best Dance Crew". Big fan of Criss Angel and his art but I think he lost his vision for his dream show. Not sure if I was to be watching a live version of Mindfreak? The magic/illusions were stuff we have scene before on his AE show. THe stage is full of trap doors, no WOW factor and lastly my ticket stub was title "Believe" not "Mindfreak". Not really sure why he would sing the "Mindfreak" song before the curtain. I hope they tweak the show or it won't have legs to stand on. Good Luck Criss but hope you don't put your AE show on hiatus
