The Mirage was the "big bang" of modern Las Vegas; when it opened in 1989, it launched the largest hotel-casino building boom the world has ever seen. Amazingly, it's now nearly 30 years old (nearing implosion age), and it's a bit dated. Still, the property has plenty to recommend it, including the famous erupting volcano out front, the domed rainforest atrium, Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden (tigers) and Dolphin Habitat, the huge aquarium behind the front desk, Cirque du Soleil, family-friendly and "toptional" pool areas, multiple nightlife venues, and a dozen restaurants.
The tropical-themed Mirage is located at the heart of the Strip. All rooms come with an electronic safe, a minibar, blackout drapes, HDTV, and an iHome dock as standard, and there's property-wide wifi access. Those wishing to step it up can choose from a range of suites, including the uber-exclusive Villas at the Mirage, which offer private pools and 24/7 butler service. Remodeled in 2015, the casino features a poker room, race and sports book, and high-limit lounge.
