A sign was blown over at Main Street Station, a construction wall collapsed at Monte Carlo, and monorail service was suspended. It was a hairy day in Vegas. Winds in the 60- to 75-mph range put the town in a tailspin. Just things that we've personally witnessed: Koval Ln. closed from Flamingo to Harmon because of downed telephone polls, power outages at Sam's Town and Lucky Dragon, street lights out all over town, trees on the ground, flights canceled, damaged roofs. More tomorrow.

D owner Derek Stevens likes to make big public sports bets, especially when they involve teams from his home state of Michigan. Last week he bet $12,500 at 80-1 on Michigan to win the NCAA Basketball Tournament, a bet that would have returned $1 million if it won. Alas, the ride was short, as Michigan lost to Oregon in a Sweet 16 match-up last night.
