Question of the Day — 21 Mar 2006

Could you please list the casinos that have closed since January 1, 2004, and that will be closing this year?

Since Jan. 1, 2004, the following casinos have closed: Binion's Horseshoe (subsequently reopened as Binion's); Castaways (formerly Showboat); Town Hall; Key Largo; Bourbon Street; Westward Ho; Boardwalk; Lady Luck; and San Remo (subsequently reopened as Hooters).

The Stardust is scheduled to close sometime around the end of this year. The Frontier is rumored to be closing sometime next year.

The Tropicana was rumored to be closing sometime this year, but its parent company, Aztar, is being sold to Pinnacle, which says it'll need a couple of years to plan and design a new megaresort for the property, so it looks like the Trop is safe at least through 2007.
