Question of the Day — 18 Dec 2008

A number of PT's Pubs used to have an electronically linked quiz, which was not only fun, but was a welcome change from playing their poor video poker schedules. That's a thing a thing of the past, although one property still runs its own quiz (see below), plus we know of a few others around town. Here they are:

• McMullan's Irish Pub* 4650 W. Tropicana Ave. Las Vegas Phone: 702/247-7000 Quiz night: Tues. 8-9:30/10 p.m.; come solo or with a team. First prize is a $100 bar tab, with $50 for second place, and there are other prizes for third, last, and funniest team name. A couple of LVA staffers have taken part in the past and can vouch for the fact that it's a fun evening.
• Fadó Irish Pub* 9470 Eastern Ave. Phone: 702/407-8691 Quiz night: Wed. 8 p.m. First three prizes are $100, $50, and $25 bar tabs, plus they'll occasionally shout out a random question and the winner gets whatever promotional material or prize-worthy items the owner has laying around the bar.
• Quinn’s Irish Pub* Green Valley Ranch Henderson Quiz night: Tues. 8-10 p.m. *As this is a pub inside a casino, you can't call the bar, and the front desk had no details aside from confirming the night/time. However, these three Irish-pub quiz nights are all affiliated with www.brainstormer.com, a company that's been organizing pub quizzes for more than a decade, so we figure you can assume that the prize structure is similar to McMullan's and Fadó.
• PT's Pub 3470 E. Sunset Rd. Phone: 702/616-0723 Quiz night: Thurs. 8-10 p.m. First prize $100 bar tab, $50 for second, $25 for third. You can play as an individual or a team.

• Cellar Lounge 3601 W. Sahara Ave., Ste. 109 Phone: 702/362-6268 Quiz night: Every other Tues. 7:30-10 p.m. (the next one's due to take place Dec. 23) It's $3 per person to enter and the winning team/player takes all. This an underground --quite literally -- locals bar that also features a great live band (soul/funk/jazz) every Wed.-Sat. from 11:30 p.m. until late.
