The figures you're citing come from the LVCVA's annual "Visitor Profile Study" for 2009, for which approximately 3,600 visitors were interviewed. Last year, the average trip length was 4.6 days, up .1 day from the previous year and the same as the figure for 2007.
While trip duration has been steady for the past five years, the average gambling budget (among those who gambled) was down significantly last year, continuing a trend that's been ongoing since 2006, when the average figure was $651.94. In 2008 it was down to $531.98, and then fell again over the next year to $481.57.
We visited the Mob Museum on our last visit. We saw that the museum is housed in the courthouse where the Kefauver hearings were held. I didn't think I was interested in that, so I didn't read about it while we were there. But later I began wondering about them. Who was Kefauver, what were the hearings about, and why were they a big deal?
