Will be in Vegas on 12/12/12 and I was wondering if anything special was happening?

Interesting question and you would have assumed that such a date would attract an array of specials in this any-excuse-for-a-party town, but perhaps people are loath to push out the boat this close to the "end of the world" (although, what's to lose?), or else we're all just a little partied-out in the wake of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the run up to the holidays.

Whatever the reason, there's a surprising dearth of timely promos, given Las Vegas' habitual any-excuse-for-a-party mentality, but below we're presenting all the festivities we've heard about, and we'll post more throughout the day as/when we hear (there may be something brewing downtown, but it had not been confirmed at the time of this writing):

Just as it's been with other supposedly auspicious, or at least memorable dates, expect a flurry of weddings tomorrow, with the staff at Clark County’s marriage-license bureau already having experienced a 75-percent bump in online pre-registration. The record to break was set on 7/7/07, when just over 4300 licenses were issued. We'll keep you posted...

  • Aside from nuptials, or then again maybe in spite/because of all the weddings, there are a few drink specials around town that have caught our eye. Bar Vdara at CityCenter responded to our querying tweet with word that they're hosting a Tweet-Up from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine, plus the chance to win exclusive prizes. The event is free to attend but you need to RSVP via their Facebook page.

  • Madame Tussauds waxwork exhibit at the Venetian is offering a locals special today, with $12 admission for those with valid state I.D. (more than half-off regular entry).

  • RHUMBAR at the Mirage will be offering $12 drink specials for 12 hours from noon to midnight on Wednesday, while Cabo Wabo Cantina inside the Miracle Mile Shops is toasting the auspicious date with $12 pitchers of Dos Equis Amber or Lager, 12 for $12 chicken wings with mix-and-match sauces, and Ranch House Kitchen at Town Square is offering drink specials and a 12-percent discount on its famous barbecue dishes all day on Dec. 12.

  • Gaming-wise, Stations Casinos are offering a 12/12/12 poker bonus: Catch four queens on the turn or the river for a $1,212 bonus; catch 'em on the flop and get $12,012! (Only good in Jumbo Hold'em; must have two queens in your hand). Meanwhile, B Connected properties (Orleans, Gold Coast, and Suncoast, Sam's Town) are offering 12X points on reels all day and 6X points on video poker. Plus, we've just gotten confirmation that the D will be dealing 12X odds at craps all day long.
