Rosemary’s has been greatly missed by a lot of Las Vegas foodies since it closed in 2011, with its signature BBQ-shrimp-and-coleslaw appetizer, legendary desserts, and half-price ladies night every Wednesday. When chefs Michael and Wendy Jordan left Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House in 2007 to open an off-Strip restaurant, it was considered a huge gamble. But the original Rosemary’s went on to become one of the town’s top restaurants -- a pick for our inaugural "Essential 50" list, and inspired confidence in countless other top chefs that there was a market for fine dining in the ‘burbs.
As far as I know, they aren’t cooking anywhere, other than their own home, right now, but that's due to change next year. Last September, Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Michael Jordan announced that a new Rosemary’s will be part of the expanded Reed Whipple Cultural Center, which is expected to open in 2014. What's being dubbed Rosemary’s Café will share the 35,000-square-foot downtown facility with the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company, making it a veritable culinary and cultural hub.
