I was comped at a Boyd property last week (the Orleans). When checking in at 11:30 a.m., I was shocked that I was charged a $25 early check-in fee. I was comped! Is this the new normal in Vegas or just another Boyd gouge? Also, when they released their updated website last month, I was disappointed to see my status dropped to Ruby from Sapphire. No offers with Ruby. I have a feeling they took back the rollover points from 2023 they used to give at the end of the year. What do you know about this?
Your first question is much easier to answer.
A Boyd spokesperson says, “We charge an early check-in fee for check-ins before 3 p.m., but waive the fee at the Emerald level and above.”
This isn't just a Boyd thing, but yes, it's the new normal everywhere. One of our correspondents recently had to pay such a charge when checking into a hotel in Miami.
As for your second query, Boyd says they can’t respond to it without knowing who you are and checking your player details … but they’re willing to look into it, indeed quite happy to do so, if you contact them and inquire. As expert Jean Scott always says, "Just ask!"
