Question of the Day — 20 Mar 2018

I just flew into McCarran Airport for the 60th time in my life. I always enjoy the advertising displayed around the walls of the baggage-claim area. With the millions of visitors flying into McCarran each year, how expensive is that baggage-claim advertising space?

Wow, you must be really racking up the frequent-flier miles.

A source at Lamar Alliance, which sells the advertising space on behalf of McCarran International Airport, says display advertising goes for “somewhere in the $12,500-to-$20,000 range per every four weeks” -- depending, we assume, on the size of the display.

That might seem like a hefty price tag, but 132,000 people pass through McCarran on a daily basis, so advertisers are, ostensibly, getting value for their money.
