I see on Arnold Snyder’s website, ToplessVegasonline.com, that Nevada's governor said dancers could be on stage in strip clubs, but stopped them from having topless dancers. I mean, really? No top increases the risk of virus transmission? Is this Nevada or the Bible Belt? What's going on?

According to the Reno Gazette Journal, city spokesman Jon Humbert said that the Reno strip clubs that had a restaurant or liquor license could have dancers. He was quoted: "They need to remain clothed top and bottom, but they're allowed to dance on any sort of stage or platform. There definitely cannot be private dances."

This report came in around noon on Thursday June 18. The "remaining clothed top" made no sense to me, as I'd seen no reports that viewing naked breasts from a safe distance could transmit COVID-19, but that's what the city spokesman said.

Well, even that became moot. Only four hours later, possibly before any dancers even made it as far as the strip-club stages, the city of Reno (or was it Governor Sisolak?) reversed that decision and informed the clubs that no dancers were allowed on stage, not even if they kept their tops on.

As of now, all strip clubs in Reno must stick to food and beverages only. No dancers are allowed -- on stage or off, clothes on or off.

In Las Vegas, four strip clubs reopened in mid- to late June, three of them as bars only -- no dancers. The fourth, the Palomino Club, is featuring dancers on stage. Traditionally a totally nude club, Palomino's dancers for now do not remove tops or bottoms, but otherwise do their full routines, working the poles and the stage like always. Customers cannot sit at the edge of the stage for now.
 
Dancers don't wear masks when they're on stage, but they do when they come down from the stage if they enter the main room. All Palomino employees -- bartenders, waitresses, bouncers, etc. -- wear masks. Right now, Palomino is the only strip club in Las Vegas (and in the state of Nevada) with exotic dancers on stage.
