Were the lights on the Strip dimmed for Sheldon Adelson?

And your link to the new poll about buffets is below the photo.

Erica Johnson of the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority replies, “The lights on the Strip were not dimmed to honor Sheldon Adelson. Several resorts incorporated a photo of Mr. Adelson into their marquee programming as a tribute.” A photo of that is below.

She adds, “Our records indicate that the lights on the Strip have been dimmed on the following occasions. However, it's difficult to ascertain whether this is a definitive list:”

  • October 8, 2017, to honor the 1 October victims and heroes
  • April 6, 2017, when Don Rickles passed
  • February 18, 2015, in observance of Jerry Tarkanian
  • June 11, 2004, in memory of Ronald Reagan
  • September 14, 2001, three days after 9/11
  • May 15, 1998,  after Frank Sinatra passed
  • March 9, 1996, after George Burns passed
  • December 28, 1995, after Dean Martin passed
  • May 16, 1990, after Sammy Davis Jr. passed
  • November 22, 1963, after JFK was assassinated
