Do you have to pay for a lounge chair (not a cabana or daybed — I know you have to pay for those) at the Caesars Palace pools? I know you can pay to reserve one, but can you get one without paying? If you don't pay, can you lose your lounge chair if you go for a swim or go for lunch at the poolside restaurant?
With the official start of summer only a couple days away and temperatures already in the triple digits, your thoughts and ours turn to lounging by the pool. But if you want to lounge in a reserved chair at most pools on the Strip, the big casino companies aren't missing any opportunity to monetize their hotels' access to fun in the sun.
At Caesars, lounges run $20-$40 for the day, depending on the pool and whether it's a weekday or weekend. You can book online. MGM Resorts also has an online reservation system for lounges, daybed, and cabanas at 12 of its properties.
If you pay for a lounge chair, pool staff will monitor it while you’re either swimming or off noshing. Says one Caesars concierge, “They know which ones are reserved and which ones are not.”
If you don't reserve one, but snatch one early enough, you're probably okay; there seems to be an unwritten rule that poolside lounges with stuff on them are claimed and left alone. That said, we were told that if a non-reserved lounge chair sits too long without anyone on it, staff will remove personal articles "for safekeeping."
You don't have to pay for a lounge chair; if non-reserved chaise longues are available, unless they're in a special reserved-only section, they're up for grabs. But with the well-heeled renting their lounge chairs and the bargain hunters getting up very early to claim the non-reserved chairs, you might find yourself reduced to a hot spot on the concrete deck.
