How about running a poll, which you haven't done for a while, on possible names for the new Las Vegas pro football team in the XFL spring league? My initial suggestions: Scorpions, Big Players, Loansharks, Slot Attendants, Dispensary Workers, Scary Scooters, Coolers, Shills, Lounge Lizards, Liberaces, Elvi, Plate Spinners, Survivors of the Westerns, Bumper to Bumper, and of course Yo's (for the 11 players on the field).
Great idea. And some hilarious suggestions. "I Survived the Westerns" takes the cake.
We ran a poll in 2016 with potential names for the new hockey team that was coming to Las Vegas at that time. Out of a total 3,310 votes, the name Aces received the most (335), followed by High Rollers, Rat Pack, Scorpions, and Wild Cards. Barbacks, Crossroaders, Daubers, Valets, and Impersonators brought up the bottom with five votes or less.
One thing's for sure: Golden Knights wasn't in the running -- or even on the radar.
But let's have some fun again and if you feel inspired, suggest a name or two for the XFL pro football team, which remains unnamed for the time being. The league will start its regular season on February 18, one week after the Super Bowl, with eight teams playing 43 regular-season games.
