An upscale-casual neighborhood pizzeria on the west side, serving both "Neapolitan" and "Roman"-style pies. Also features an extensive range of craft beers and offers cocktails and wines by the bottle, glass, or "flight."
This restaurant was reviewed in the October 2012 LVA; some of the information contained in this review may no longer be accurate. Most of what you need to know about Due Forni is conveyed in the excerpt from Eating Las Vegas, but here are a few of our own observations. While the authors make the point in their reviews, we’ll reinforce that while pizzas are emphasized, this isn’t a place where you choose your toppings and order an extra large. There are nine specialty pizzas to choose from and just one size, which is about big enough for two. Prices range from $12.95 for a margherita (tomatoes and basil), to $20.95 for a tartufo (black truffle over a baked egg). Also emphasized are the two styles of pizza, but we don’t find them to be that different—both are thin-crust. Frankly, we’ll go up the road to Dom DeMarco’s (LVA 4/12) if it’s just pizza we want. But as the ELV authors suggest, Due Forni is about a lot more than pizza. As you’d expect from a former executive chef at MGM’s Fiamma, the other dishes, as described in the excerpt, are top-level. They come in appetizer sizes, priced from $8.95 to $11.95, but they’re not small portions, so two diners will want two, at most, with a pizza. And be sure to check out the specials: Pork belly over polenta with squash was served the night we visited and it was the highlight of the meal. On top of the good grub, Due Forni is also a pretty happening place-to-be-type restaurant at the moment. There are tables inside and out, or you can eat at the bar. One negative is the location: It’s way up on the west side, about 10 miles from the Strip. Hours are 10 am-11 pm, Sunday-Wednesday, and till 11 pm Thursday-Saturday.
