The Firelight Buffet started out very strong (see the LVA Review), but that was more than 15 years ago. It's been through a number of changes since and now it's more of a quantity-over-quality affair.
That said, this is the least expensive buffet with a B Connected card for breakfast and lunch; dinner Saturday-Thursday, it's among the cheapest, so you do get a little more than you pay for. You could go to McDonald's and get a burger, fries, and drink for the same money as an AYCE breakfast; for the price of a burger and fries at Five Guys, you can get a big lunch buffet.
The food is decent and overall we'd give it 2.5 stars, right in the middle for quality, and three stars for value. Go up to four stars if you use the LVA 2-for-2/50%-off coupon.

The redesigned, restyled, and renamed “Firelight Buffet” at Sam’s Town is vastly superior to anything the casino has offered in the past. In fact, we now rank this multi-station (Chinese, Italian, Mexican, barbecue, and Southern) superbuffet the best in town in its price range. The room is beautiful, lit by the natural light that comes off the adjacent atrium. And for a change, everything in the extensive selection is properly labeled. Here’s a partial list of items from lunch: pot stickers, egg rolls, Thai-beef salad, gourmet pizzas, catfish, red beans and rice, hot links, gumbo, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, various chicken dishes (including rotisserie chicken), plus ribs and a carving station. There are several different soups and specialty chilis (chili blanca, buffalo breath). Plus there’s quesadillas, hamburgers, and fresh salads and fruit, making it a good option for kids. The only weak area is desserts, though the scooped (hard) ice cream is a nice touch.
All in all, an outstanding line-up. Lunch is served Mon.-Fri., 11 am-4 pm, for $6.99. Dinner, 4-9 pm, is $10.99 seven days a week. There’s an excellent brunch, 10 am-3 pm, on the weekends for $8.99. Kids (4-8 years) are $4.25 breakfast, $8.99 dinner, and $6.99 brunch. LVA subscribers can use the coupon in the Pocketbook of Values for a buy-one-get-one. There’s no breakfast in the Firelight, but a $3.99 morning buffet (along with several breakfast specials) is served in the Fresh Harvest restaurant beginning at 7 am.
