This restaurant was reviewed in the May 2012 LVA; some of the information contained in the review may no longer be accurate. The name suggests fast food, but Food Express is a sit-down Chinese restaurant that’s operated in Las Vegas outside of the casinos for many years. We’ve written about Cathay House and K.J. Seafood opening outlets at the Palms and Rio, respectively, but Food Express predates both, having teamed with Palace Station back in 2009. In addition to the standard menu, the restaurant serves dim sum, but it’s not the standard arrangement with circulating carts. Here you order off a separate menu and only nine items are available, comprising the more popular selections, e.g., pork siu mai, shrimp har gow, and spare ribs. Everything is $5 per order, which is expensive for dim sum, but you also get four pieces compared to the usual two or three and quality is high. We also had a good sizzling rice soup from the main menu that, at $10.95, is also more expensive than others we’ve tried (China MaMa’s is $6.95). The restaurant serves till 3 am daily. (Note that selections from Food Express are still comped for Palace Station table-games players during the day.)
