A hub of the Italian-American community in Las Vegas for more than 50 years, the club features a restaurant with three dining rooms and bar, open Wednesday through Sunday and serving reasonably priced classic home-style Italian favorites (stuffed artichokes, escarole and beans, fettuccini alfredo, veal piccata, etc.). The venue features regular live entertainment in the lounge, some free, some with a cover charge (check for upcoming events on the online calendar).
Reservation highly recommended.
Looking for old Vegas? You can find a heap of it down on east Sahara at the Italian-American Club, along with some of the city's best Italian food at low prices. Operating since 1961, the IAC was originally a men's social club. Being located in Las Vegas, the place rolled up some spicy history, boasting a membership that included Frank Sinatra, along with several other showbiz and "sporting" types. The LA Times concentrated on the latter in a 2013 article titled "In the Club Where Made Men Mingled." Those kinds of guys still come around, but it's mostly for the pasta and live entertainment. A couple years ago, the club struck a deal with the former owners of Fellini's, which a decade back was the "in" spot in town. Accordingly, the food here is good, and (unlike Fellini's) priced to make you smile. "Basta Pastas" start at $14, with more than a dozen selections, including spaghetti Bolognese, spaghetti carbonara, angel hair alla checca, aglio e oglio, and linguini with clams. Chicken dishes are $19. Veal is $22. There are some awesome appetizers ($7-$15), like stuffed banana peppers and sautéed calamari, but the star of the show is the escarole & beans that comes with sausage for an extra $4. Three of us hit it pretty hard and the tab, with two bottles of Chianti, was $140. As for the entertainment, the IAC is actually a supper club, so expect live music. Bigger names are brought in on occasion for ticketed events. This is an in-the-know play in Vegas, so it can get busy. Try to make reservations. We say try, because the reservation phone sometimes rings on and on without an answer. If you can't get through, go ahead and take a chance. There's a cool bar to hang at if you have to wait, and the place is big so you won't wait long. Hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 5 to 10 pm.
