Casual and moderately priced Thai restaurant on the edge of Chinatown closest to the Las Vegas Strip, serving lunch and dinner daily. Look out for the good lunch specials.
This restaurant was reviewed in the October 2010 LVA; some of the information contained in the review may no longer be accurate. Krung Siam is a Thai restaurant located a mile west of the Strip, and while it might not quite match up with the likes of Lotus of Siam or Komol, it has something that the others don’t—an amazing lunch special. In fact, it’s so good that we’ve never eaten anything but the special here and it’s the sole reason for Krung’s appearance in this space. The special is available weekdays from 11 am to 3 pm and includes soup, rice, and an entrée for $4.99. You can pay up to $6.99 if you add seafood, but $4.99 gets you one of 15 selections, with your choice of chicken, beef, pork, vegetables, or tofu. Preparations include basil, sweet & sour, garlic & pepper, ginger, and broccoli, along with pad Thai, drunken noodle, and four different curries. Our favorites—and this place is just around the corner from our office, so we’ve tried almost all of them—are garlic & pepper, drunken noodle, and a dish called veggie delight. The soup changes daily and is one of the best parts of the meal. A side salad is $2. Drinks, including Thai iced tea or coffee, are $1 apiece. This play is strong.
