This restaurant was reviewed in the September 2011 LVA; some of the information contained in the review may no longer be accurate. Our Local Corner recommendations can be based on lots of things—good food, strong deals, and historical significance among them. But sometimes it’s just about a special circumstance, which is the case this month. Lahaina comes as close as you’ll get in Las Vegas to serving all-night sushi. It used to serve sushi around the clock, but cut back during the economic slowdown and is now open nightly till 4 am. In the past, the sushi was mediocre, but it’s gotten much better, with all sorts of creative rolls to choose from (try Rainbow in the Dark and Ultimate Yellowtail). Nigiri sushi and traditional rolls are $4-$6 each, while the specialty rolls are $12-$15. But that’s if you’re paying full boat. Half-price happy hours run from 3 to 7 pm and 10 pm to 4 am every day. Beers are $2 and sake $3 during these times, so even with drinks, you figure to get out well under $50 for two. There are also all-you-can eat deals for lunch ($19.95) and dinner ($24.95). Eat in the dining room, at the regular bar, or at the sushi bar. As you’d expect, Lahaina can get interesting at night, as the town’s late-shift employees (from all walks) and die-hard partiers show up to eat and hang out. This is a good one to have in your arsenal.
