This restaurant was reviewed in the October 2009 LVA; some of the information contained in this review may no longer be accurate. In August we wrote about the $39 tasting menu in the smaller of the two Robuchon restaurants at MGM Grand. Can you really experience the cuisine of the chef some consider to be the best in the world for just $39? The answer is yes, but you don’t get the best of him. “L’Unique” menu consists of an appetizer, entrée, and dessert served all at the same time. It’s not much of a tasting menu, really. In fact, given that there are two choices in each category, it’s more of a prix fixe than a taster. Portions are small (it’s not like you’ll have to run out and get a burger right away, but you also won’t be skipping your next meal). The big tasting menu here is $148 and comes with all the fancy concoctions applied to oysters, langostino, duck, and the like. You can also order off the menu a la carte. Aside from securing bragging rights to having “tasted Robuchon,” we didn’t find L’Unique particularly compelling.
