LVA Review

This restaurant was reviewed in the August 2009 LVA; some of the information contained in this review may no longer be accurate. With all the great options for prime rib in town, the transplanted L.A. restaurant Lawry’s The Prime Rib is still the choice of many for the city’s best. We don’t necessarily agree, but it has one heck of a lunch special. On weekdays from 11:30 am to 2 pm, Lawry’s offers its “Ale and Sandwich Bar.” It’s good, but the best deal is on Mondays, when you can get a whole prime rib sandwich and a salad bar for $10. It’s the real thing—choose your bread and the carver slices the meat directly from a freshly cooked round. And the salad bar assures that you won’t go away hungry (excellent potato salad). There’s also an array of condiments, like spicy mustard and horseradish. Load your sandwich with the tastes you like and top it with a slice of sweet onion. Yum!
