This restaurant was reviewed in the June 2008 LVA; some of the information contained in the review may no longer be accurate. This one is also expensive, but our $120 went farther here than in most places of its ilk. Morels is the restaurant located directly off the check-in area at Palazzo. It’s distinguished by two big food displays—one of cold seafood and the other of cheeses—which creates a mighty urge upon entering to set up at the bar and appetize. Follow that urge! You can order off the main menu, but there’s also a second menu of fromage (cheese) and charcuterie (cold meats). We ordered a combination of ubriaco (Italian), Montgomery cheddar (English), and bleu D’Auvergne (French), along with an assortment of salami and ham, which came to $30. With a premium beer or a glass of $12 Roederer Champagne, it’s like having an indoor picnic. We also tried steak tartare and a half-dozen oysters—both good and at better-than-market prices. Morels is definitely the play at Palazzo if you want to hook a good meal onto a night out for Jersey Boys.
