This restaurant was reviewed in the April 2006 LVA; some of the information contained in the review may no longer be accurate. Similar to the Stratosphere’s Top of the World, Panevino’s view and ambience are a big part of its appeal. The view doesn’t come from elevation, but rather a location just south of the airport that yields a panoramic and unobstructed view of the lights of the Strip. It doesn’t hurt that the appetizers are terrific. The selection runs from bruschetta and chicken wings ($10 range) to crab cakes and carpaccio (about $15). The play is to go for the daily 5-6 pm happy hour, when most appetizers are just $5-$11 (and wines by the glass are $5-$7). Standing out are the calamari with shrimp and the asparagus with bread crumbs and cheese. There’s also a full Italian menu for lunch and dinner, but appetizers and cocktails, coupled with the great Strip view, is the way to go here.
