Paymon’s (Mediterranean)—We wrote about the original Paymon’s on Maryland Parkway in October 2002. This second location is on the west side at 8380 W. Sahara and serves till 1 am seven days a week. Try the big combo-appetizer plate ($15.95) with an Almaza or Casablanca beer ($4 each). A tip: Don’t be fooled if the restaurant looks empty; the Hookah Lounge in the back is comfortable, fun, and the place where everyone winds up. Maryland Parkway (702/731-6030), has long been a local favorite for Middle-Eastern cuisine. Lunch is available seven days a week, and take-out is available every day except Sunday from a cool deli/market (bring a snack back to your room). This is also a late-night play, as they serve until 3 am on weekends. There’s an adjoining bar called the Hookah Lounge, where you can hang out after dinner, drink Casablanca beer, and if you’re of a mind, smoke a real hookah (water pipe) with flavored tobaccos for $15.
